You left your kiss in California
Out on that Mendocino shore
You lost your smile in Arizona
I sure don't see it anymore
There's a distance here between us
Follows us down every road
I feel it every time that we touch
I feel it everywhere we go
Everywhere we go
I know we haven't even said goodbye
But I can see lookin' your eyes
Your heart's moved on
You haven't told me that you're gonna leave
But it ain't that hard to see
Your love's long gone
Your love's long gone
Your car's still parked out in the driveway
Your red suitcase is still downstairs
But I hear echos in the hallway
From when you used to be here
Cause you're not really here
I know we haven't even said goodbye
But I can see lookin' your eyes
Your heart's moved on
You haven't told me that you're gonna leave
But it ain't that hard to see
Your love's long gone
Your love's long gone
I know we haven't even said goodbye
But I can see lookin' your eyes
Your heart's moved on
Your heart's moved on
You haven't told me that you're gonna leave
But it ain't that hard to see
Your love's long gone
Your love's long gone
I see it in your eyes
I see it in your smile
I see it on your face
You're so far away
We haven't said goodbye
And I wonder why
Your heart's moved on
And your love's long gone
Song facts
"'Love's Long Gone' is a very personal song, inspired by my parents. I grew up on a 100 acre beef farm near Fergus Ontario with my parents and two siblings. Nearing the time I moved off the farm and down to Nashville, there was the sense that the flame in my parents relationship had dimmed and that maybe, they were still together for the sake of keeping the family in place for as long as possible, even after they weren't in love anymore. They had been married for over 20 years and divorced three weeks after I moved. It's a sad reality and one that is relatable to by far too many people." - Ryan Laird
