"Death Will Never Conquer" is a song by the English alternative rock band Coldplay. It was written by all members of the band for their fifteenth single release, "Viva la Vida". The track consists of Chris Martin playing the piano and singing. A live version of the song was released on the 2009 free giveaway album LeftRightLeftRightLeft.
The song was released as a B-side to "Viva la Vida" on 12 June 2008 only in Germany. The song rose to popularity when the band began their 2008-2010 Viva la Vida Tour. At the beginning of the tour, the band wrote on their website, "Tonight's the first night of our tour. To say thank you to everyone who's bought tickets and supported us, here's a new song called 'Death Will Never Conquer'. You'll hear it at the concerts with a twist." The 'twist' was that the band's drummer Will Champion would sing lead vocals instead of Chris Martin. During the acoustic section of the concert, Champion would play the guitar, Martin the harmonica with Guy Berryman on the mandolin and Jonny Buckland on the tambourine. This proved to be a popular version of the song and was played this way throughout the tour and the 2010 Latin America Tour.
