"This song is a reflection on the band as a whole and the personal fight to keep Buried In Verona afloat and motivated from beginning to present, it talks about the struggle of moving forward in an ever growing market saturated with similar sounds. For years we have been labelled a "metal-core" band and for the most part that was correct, but as people and musicians we felt being held to that title is holding us back from where we wanted to be, from where each persons own dream of success is and where we want the band to go.
Forget What You Know is a title that speaks for itself, many people have their opinions formed on BIV and are very concrete that we are just a metal band, to us that's wrong. We have no intention of falling into the pool of mediocore bands all playing the same style and getting nowhere with it. This song is a reflection on the whole album, it's lyrically like our anthem for "Notorious", the first 2 lines of the chorus explain that. "So here we go, we're on a mission to find ourselves". To us, that signifies change, a maturity bands only find when each member is on the same page and on our new record, we are. We know where we want to go and we are aiming for it. We want to break the "habit" that is the opinion on what type of band we are, we don't play metal, we play music."
