Release date: February 2012
Helvetios is the fifth full-length album by the Swiss folk metal band, Eluveitie, released on February 10, 2012. It is their second concept album. Helvetios tells the story of the Helvetians, a Celtic tribe that lived in Gaul, a region that covered most of what today is France, Switzerland, Northern Italy, and France from the Iron Age through the Roman period. The album focuses on the story of the Gallic (Gaulish) wars - a series of military campaigns waged by Julius Caesar.
The CD was recorded at New Sound Studio in Pfäffikon, a municipality in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland, with producer Tommy Vetterli (a.k.a. Tommy T. Baron; Coroner/ex-Kreator guitarist). According to the band, Vetterli recorded drums, guitars and vocals and also produced and mixed the record. Most folk instruments and also vocals were recorded by Anna Murphy and Marco Jencarelli at the Soundfarm studios in Lucerne.
